THE COMPANY:  

 

International Coal Ventures Private Limited (ICVL) is a recently promoted Special Purpose Vehicle with proposed equity base of USD 0.9 billions, Debt USD 1.8 billion funds from private equity funds, venture capitalists, etc as required.

 

THE OBJECTIVE:

 

ICVL intends to acquire Metallurgical Coal and Steam (Boiler) coal assets in selected countries of the world .

 

THE PROMOTERS:

 

a)       Steel Authority of India Limited:  Largest producer of iron & steel in India. Present production level 14 million tones and estimated 56 million tones by 2020. Turnover in FY 2007 was USD 10 billion. Market Capital of USD 18 billion.

 

b)       Coal India Limited: World’s largest coal producing company.  Present production is 361 million tones. Projected to touch 651 million tones by 2020. Turnover in FY 2007 was USD 8.9 billion.  Book Value USD 2.59 billion.

 

c)      Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited: Shore based integrated steel plant with a production of 3.6 million tones slated to go to 16 million tones by 2020. Turnover in FY 2007 was USD 2.3 billion.  Book Value USD 2.42 billion.

 

d)      National Mineral Development Corporation Limited: India’s single largest iron ore producer.  Presently producing 27 million tones of iron ore and estimated to increase to 60 million tones by 2020. Turnover in FY 2007 was USD 1.0 billion. Market Capital is USD 45 billion.

 

e)      NTPC:  Largest  producer of power in India. Commissioned power generating capacity of 29.904 MW with plans to enhance to over 75,000 MW by 2017.  Turnover in FY 2007 was USD 9.0 billion.  Market Capital is USD 50 Billion.

-          Metallurgical Coal production (overseas) under SPV control 5 million tones;

-          Metallurgical coal resources(in phases) upto to 500 million tones;

-          Steam Coal production under SPV control upto 5 million tones.
